Find Your Mentor Platform
Terms of Use

The Find Your Mentor Platform website is provided as a web-based mentorship system. The platform is designed to be used by potential Mentors and Mentees.

Participation in the platform requires that you consent to the following:

1. Consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information.

In order to participate in the Find Your Mentor Platform some User’s personal information needs to be collected and shared with other Users for the purpose of matching mentors and mentees. The information is collected only for the purposes of the effective delivery of the platform, will not be shared publically online, will only be shared with other participants where necessary, and will not be shared with third-parties except as required by law and detailed in the Privacy Policy.

The personal information is collected to determine the User’s platform eligibility, to match mentors and mentees, to facilitate communication and platform reviews.

Users’ personal information will be protected from loss, theft, unauthorized access, modification, release or disclosure. Data will be secured using multiple web security procedures and compliant according to all applicable laws.

By agreeing to participate in the Find Your Mentor Platform (as a User) you agree with the terms of the Consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information for the purposes stated above.

2. Conflict of Interest.

Both mentor and mentee Users agree to disclose to each other any potential or actual conflicts of interest that may affect the mentorship relationship. There are several types of conflicts of interest:

  • Users cannot accept gifts or give gifts worth over $50.
  • Users cannot be matched as mentor/mentee if they have prior intimate relationships with each other or their families.
  • The Find Your Mentor Platform cannot be used for any personal or monetary gain.
If there is a conflict of interest the Users should not be a match. Both mentor and mentee should find different contacts instead. The Find Your Mentor Platform manager has the right to terminate any mentorship relationship in which there is a conflict of interest.

By agreeing to participate in the Find Your Mentor Platform you agree with these Conflict of Interest terms.

2. Professional Standards - No Discrimination, Harassment or Violence.

Both mentor and mentee Users are expected to act in a professional and appropriate manner and must agree to not take part of any harassment, discrimination or violence with the following definitions:

  • Discrimination - unequal treatment based on bias.
  • Harassment - comments or actions that are known to be offensive, usually regarding age, sex, race, gender identity, gender expression, disability, sexual orientation or creed.
  • Sexual and gender-based harassment - avoid all sexual-oriented behaviour.
  • Workplace violence - no verbal, written or physical violence of any kind.
3. Health & Safety Requirements.

Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet in public locations, such as convenient cafés, or online via Zoom and not private residences. Should the mentee visit the mentor in their place of work, the mentor is to ensure that the visit adheres to appropriate occupational health and safety policies and procedures.

4. Privacy & Confidentiality.

Confidentiality should be maintained by both parties to help foster sharing and meaningful discussion through a honest and trusting relationship. Confidentiality should also be maintained beyond the relationship itself and even in the circumstance that the mentorship is terminated.

However, a breach of confidentiality is warranted in the extreme circumstance when it is required to maintain someone’s personal safety or when legally obligated to do so.

5. Matching Mentors and Mentees,

Care is given to ensure mentor and mentee Users are appropriately matched so that both parties get the most from the platform. Typically, this is based on the party’s alignment to certain disciplines and other factors. However, given the limited and varying backgrounds of Users, a well aligned match cannot always be guaranteed. In such a case, the Users will be carried over into the next intake pool where a new suitable match may become available.

6. Mentorship Relationship,

Find Your Mentor Platform enables Users to determine the direction and goals of the mentorship so long as those goals are aligned with the mentee’s career development. Participation in the platform is voluntary and either party can end the relationship at any time.

Should this occur, please notify the platform coordinator as soon as possible so thata withdrawal can be easily managed and alternative arrangements can be made. Should the mentee end their membership at the Find Your Mentor Platform, their participation in the mentorship platform also ends. There are many benefits for being a mentor or mentee but, as a voluntary platform, neither party is entitled to payment of any form.

Mentees are to understand the limits of the Find Your Mentor Platform in that it is for supporting career development related issues. Mentors should acknowledge that they are not counsellors and should make a referral for the mentee when advice is needed for areas outside of the mentee’s career path.

7. Find Your Mentor Platform.

The Find Your Mentor Platform is facilitated using software developed by by RichoSoft Squared. Personal information provided by Users (including, but not limited to mentees, mentors, administrators and management) will be stored in server facilities provided by RichoSoft Squared in The UK or USA.

The Find Your Mentor Platform will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Privacy Principles are complied with by recipients of their personal information. Find Your Mentor Platform, its staff, contractors, or agents, will not be liable for the recipients breach of privacy laws for the information they provide on the Find Your Mentor Platform. Further, Users may not be able to seek damages under those laws.

Users agree that name, contact number, email address, employment background, skills, and topics of interest can be made available to other users. This information will be shared for the purpose of matching and so that mentors and mentees can get connected and will adhere to Find Your Mentor Platform Privacy Policies.

Users agree not to use the Find Your Mentor Platform for any purpose that is unlawful. Further, Users agree not to act in any way that might burden, impair, disable or damage the App itself or other Users.

8. Terms & Conditions Breaches.

Any breaches in the policy and standards mentioned here may result in termination of the mentorship relationship at the discretion of the platform coordinators. The parties involved will typically be given the opportunity to comment prior to a decision been made should a breach be found.

We endeavour to respond to any concerns, complaints or questions in a timely manner and any actions taken are at the discretion of the Find Your Mentor Platform Team.

If you request to stay anonymous we will take this into consideration, however this option will not be available to you if it is impracticable for us to deal with you anonymously, or in situations where we are required by law or court order to deal with individuals who have identified themselves.
